NOTE: USUALLY, THE BEST THING TO DO IS TO SET THE INDEXING PERFORMANCE ON SMART OR RESTRICTED. Cons: Sometimes it can be a bit slow but that's more to do with how many files it has to search through. It's fast and reliable and although Windows has a decent search in Windows 10, I use Copernic instead. Right click on the tray icon in the zone of notification. Pros: I love the fact it can index and search my desktop and I have used this software for over a decade.Modify the Indexing Performance from the tray icon : Choose between Unrestricted, Restricted or Smart.In the Tools menu, select Indexing Performance.Modify the Indexing Performance from the Tools menu : Recover after 10 seconds when the focus is in the main interface or 2 minutes if the focus is outside of Copernic. Wait 15 seconds between item indexation if you use the computer.Wait 10 seconds between item indexation if the Copernic Desktop Search process global I/O (disk and network) uses more than 40% resources.Wait 10 seconds between item indexation if the Copernic Desktop Search process exceed 40% of CPU usage.Pause indexation while computer is on battery mode.Pause indexation for 2 minutes when the focus is outside of Copernic and you use the computer.Pause indexation for 10 seconds when the focus is in the main interface and you use the computer.Pause indexation if the Copernic Desktop Search process global I/O (disk and network) uses more than 40% resources.Pause indexation if the Copernic Desktop Search process exceed 40% of CPU usage.May be usefull to perform a quick build of your index but could impair responsiveness of other applications. Uses all available ressources on the computer.It also pauses or restrict the indexation while your are using the computer and restart the indexation after a certain period of inactivity. Copernic Desktop Search constantly monitors your computer's activity to pause or restrict the indexation when the computer resources are highly used (more or less 40% CPU / disk I/O / network I/O) by other programs or processes.
